Mission The Bowie State University Honors Program challenges highly motivated and academically talented students and provides them with a supportive environment. The program encourages traditional classroom instruction in special honors sections, special honors projects to obtain honors credits, honors colloquia to enhance independent study, field trips to regional historic sites, and seminars. The major benefit of any honors program is intellectual growth of its student participants. This growth is the result of meeting rigorous intellectual challenges fostered in a culturally and socially diverse atmosphere.
Membership BenefitsFull Scholarship:Students accepted into the Honors Program receive a full scholarship that covers tuition, fees, books, room and board each year. Scholarship recipients must complete the FAFSA*, which is available starting October 1. If you receive additional scholarships and/or grants, your award may be adjusted.* Use Bowie State University's school code: 002062Support:Honors students have access to a private shared suite that includes a computer lab, lounge area, seminar room and small academic library. These areas provide ample room for collaborative learning or quiet, independent study.Travel:From professional conferences to academic competitions, students have several opportunities to represent Bowie State at events across the country. The University regularly sends groups to activities like the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge, the SXSW Battle of the Brains and IBM hackathons.Recognition:Upon graduation, an honors notation will appear on your transcript and diploma.
